The instructions on how to set everything up on the phone were comprehensive and clear. I received the phone within a week and set up with SIM card and satellite connection was relatively smooth. The phone itself is basic and like my Nokia from early 2000’s but will do the job. The service was great, it was all automated email style but very effective and efficient.
Received the sat phone overnight. The instructions were clear and concise. Set up the connection quite quickly and we’re off and running. Heading to north Qld and Nt so trust the phone will be reliable for any emergency requirements
This sat phone meets all my expectations and was a simple purchase to make, delivery was faster than expected.
After much consideration, figured this was the best option for us to travel around Australia. Light, small and compact (only just fits in the box with all the accessories), I have tested it at home and appears to be some delay in it but I guess it has to link with the satellite. So be patient as appears it will do everything I want it to, contact people in an emergency,
Hi Geoff, thank you for taking the time to review the Sat Safety Bundle. The delay, sorry - not much we can do about that unless you convince nature that Einstein was wrong! The delay comes from the signal traveling 40,000 km out to the satellite and back - it's the speed of light causing that delay, it's just not fast enough! To be honest, once you get used to it, it's almost not noticeable, just leave a slight pause before speaking over the other person. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to assist.
Good but the battery life is terrible. I’d hate to be stuck in the bush without means of charging it. It would be like a horror movie watching the battery go down trying to get help
Hi, and thanks for taking the time to give feedback on the XT-Lite - we're going to give you a call to help you with this, meantime.. The XT-LITE DOES have good battery life, the "up to 80 hours" claim by Thuraya is a bit optimistic, but it does get close. The issue you may be experiencing is the battery life when the handset is inside a building or car with no view of the satellite. This causes the unit to frequently shout out to the satellite and scan for signal. Situated where it can pick up the satellite the standby time will be hugely better. There's no advantage to having the unit switched on when inside a building or glove box - it's not going to ring anyway. Give it a try - leave it located at, say a window, where there is satellite connectivity, you may be pleasantly surprised.
